It's Why I Sing

It’s Why I Sing                                                                                     Kellie Tipton

Have you ever been in a room with all kinds of noise and suddenly one particular noise stands out and you can hardly hear the rest?

I was at lunch one Sunday, when in the midst of the sounds of people walking in and out, talking, food being prepared, I heard this little sing song voice.  It was so sweet it became all I heard.  So I decided to discreetly look around just in case it would stop if I was noticed.

As I looked around my eyes and ears found this little boy sitting at a table with his family.  What stood out was that his eyes were fixed on one person and then I could make out what he was singing.  “Daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy” were his lyrics and you saw on his face what adoration and in his voice you heard such love.  He was waiting for his food, sitting so nicely while singing.

It wasn’t just because of what he was going to get, he sincerely just absolutely adored his father and I could hear this voice from years past “I want to look like him, talk like him, dress like him…”  The voice from years past was my son as he watched his father leave for work one morning.  Absolute adoration and love for his father.

This picture stayed with me for weeks and still comes to mind.  To me it was such a pure reflection of our love for our Heavenly Father.  We want to be like Him, talk like Him and yes, even dress like Him.  These boys from past and present were not only feeling this but verbalizing their love and how beautiful it was to witness.

There is a song that has captured my attention so much that as I write this, it is what is running through my mind and heart.  Such adoration and love this song expresses to our Heavenly Father and His praise will ever be on my lips.

Your love is devoted

Like a ring of solid gold

Like a vow that is tested

Like a covenant of old

Your love is enduring

Through the winter rain

And beyond the horizon

With mercy for today

Faithful You have been

Faithful You will be

You pledge Yourself to me

And it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips

You father the orphan

Your kindness makes us whole

You shoulder our weakness

Your strength becomes our own

Now You’re making me like You

Clothing me in white

Bringing beauty for ashes

For You will have Your Bride

Free from all her guilt

And rid of all her shame

And known by her true name

And it’s why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips

You will be praised

You will be praised

With angels and saints

Singing Worthy are You Lord
