He is the Peace Who Calms Every Storm
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalms 19:14 NKJV
How do you handle the storms of life that come your way? Do you lean on Him, or try and handle them in your own strength?
I recall our summer vacations like they were yesterday.
When I was a child, we would spend several weeks together in a modest trailer surrounded by the lake, trails of nature and campfires at days’ end.
The small space was crammed to max capacity with excited children, anticipating great adventures and fun. We slept on cots, ate PBJ’s everyday and walked a block to the public showers, but we were on top of the world!
We were family and NOTHING could steal our joy!
Most days, that was true; like the lake, the waters were flat and calm. Occasionally however, the storm would come over the lake and the waters were anything but smooth, instead they were choppy and rough.
The sky became dark and the winds fierce. The same was true in my family on occasion.
The usual unity was replaced with conflict, harsh words and anger. We did not talk to find a resolution. We wallowed in our hurt, full of judgment and blame. Before we knew it we were in the middle of a STORM, which deeply affected our relationships, often for days.
Today I am a wife, mother and grandmother. Though I am years more mature (ok… I am older), I still experience conflict and an occasional storm in my own family, however I no longer fight in my own strength.
In humble submission to my Creator, He guides me through each storm. As I meditate on HIS word daily, the desire to be prideful and RIGHT is replaced with a forgiving heart of acceptance and love.
The Bible says, “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalms 19:14.
My words are a true reflection of my heart, which when saturated with God’s word will bring healing and comfort, straight from His heart.
He IS the peace who calms every storm. Will you call on him now and allow Him to be the anchor of your life?
