We Are Not Perfect but He Is
By Debbie Walker
Our Christmas celebration wasn’t perfect! Some of the peanut butter fudge wasn’t cooked long enough and went into the garbage. The cat partially opened more than one Christmas gift. One online ordered gift is still yet to arrive. Tears over things not being just the way I wanted may have been shed. Our nativity scene bought the year before on clearance is missing Joseph! Although, we do have 4 wise men; two of them twins, haha.
But that’s just it… nothing that we do will ever be perfect and it never will be perfect because we live in a fallen world. There is nothing wrong with striving to have that perfect family celebration, however, it is okay to have mishaps. It is not the end of the world when something doesn’t come out just right.
There is joy in knowing that our Father in heaven is perfect and that He sent His perfect sacrifice for us. We can take refuge in Him. We can strive to do our very best and when things go a bit wrong, it is okay. We move forward in Christ.
We will keep hosting celebrations and enjoying the good things and good people in our lives. These upcoming celebrations will not be perfect but we can have perfect joy in knowing that we have a perfect Father who loves us.
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
